Management Team Swap Cairngorms for Seahouses
A couple have traded the Cairngorms for Northumberland to become the new managers of the soon-to-open Bamburgh Castle Inn in Seahouses.
Executive chef Sam Robinson, who has netted AA awards for excellence at establishments in London, Stratford and Gloucestershire, will manage the 30-bedroom harbour front Inn with partner Julia Baker when it reopens next month.
The couple, who have over 50 years' collective hospitality experience, will manage the Inn which boasts a pavilion-style coffee house, bar area and carvery as well as overseeing 40 staff in jobs generated as a result of the Inn's expansion and reopening.
Sam, 49, who managed the 66-bedroom Invercauld Arms in Braemar with Julia before coming to The Bamburgh Castle Inn, said:
"We are delighted to be taking on the running of the Bamburgh Castle Inn. It’s an exciting project not only because it is a new venture but also because it is a brand new concept with a real wow factor."
"We’ll be working with the owners, Lindisfarne Inns Limited to ensure the Inn is successful and enjoyed by local people and holiday makers alike as somewhere to go for good, home-cooked food and a destination that’s high-quality, but without the pomp and ceremony."
Julia, 52, said: "We are also looking forward to making the Bamburgh Castle Inn a part of the community. While that is about creating jobs, it’s also about opening up the Inn and its facilities to the community. It is our aim to make the new Bamburgh Castle Inn an inaugural part of the community."
Welcoming the appointment of the new managers Keith Liddell, director of Lindisfarne Inns Limited, said: "The appointment of Sam and Julia marks a key milestone for The Bamburgh Castle Inn as we get set to open next month following the successful completion of the regeneration’s first phase."
"The wealth of expertise and knowledge Sam and Julia bring to the Lindisfarne Inn Limited group make them a very valuable and welcome addition to the team and the ideal driving force to bring about the new Bamburgh Castle Inn’s success with tourists and local cliental making it a must-visit destination."
Formerly The Bamburgh Castle Hotel, the Bamburgh Castle Inn will reopen for walk-in trade in mid June following the completion of the first phase of a £1.65m refurbishment and expansion investment by Lindisfarne Inns Limited who bought the Inn in November.
Bookings are being taken for July 1 2008 onwards. Visit www.bamburghcastleinn.co.uk for more information.
The second phase development which includes a new-build extension is scheduled for completion in autumn 2008.
Further to the Bamburgh Castle Inn, the company owns The Lindisfarne Inn at Beal which opened in May 2007 following a complete refurbishment. The Lindisfarne Inn has a bar, dining area and a 21-bedroom lodge.
